Beliefs
Worshiping God, Making Disciples of Jesus, and Living Missionally
Basics:
We believe in the Triune God revealed in Scripture. We believe that this God created everything that is. We believe that while humanity has rebelled in sin, this God has done everything necessary in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus to bring us home again. We believe we are called to follow Jesus in this life of sacrificial love for the life of the world. We believe God is working to reconcile all things in Jesus, and that a day is coming when God will make all things well.
In Depth:
As a Reformed Congregation, we hold Scripture to be the highest authority for our lives. We also share and use confessions of faith and creeds to more deeply understand Scripture, the Triune God, and the relationship between God and God’s people.
Together with Christians across the globe and for thousands of years we hold to the Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed. We also recognize the Reformed confessions: the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession, the Canons of Dordt, and the Confession of Belhar.
Vision Statement:
We Believe The Wyckoff Reformed Church is called by God to share the good news with all people and to be the incarnation of Christ's love in the community; we believe that Christ has commanded us to love God and to love all people.
Therefore we shall care for, disciple, encourage, minister to, and be the presence of Christ to people in Wyckoff, in the surrounding communities, in our homes, in our neighborhoods, in our work places, and everywhere we go.
We believe that by his death, Christ has paid the price of sin for all people; we believe that by his resurrection, Christ made eternal life accessible to all people; we believe that only Christ is the right and proper judge of all people and, because Christ died for all, we believe that all must have access to the graces of our Savior, in particular the hearing of the Word of God, the Lord's Supper, and Baptism.
Therefore we welcome all people as brothers and sisters in Christ, without prejudice or distinction based on race, national origin, gender, gender identity, social or economic standing, education, sexual orientation, physical or emotional limitations, or any other classification by which humanity divides people.
We believe that God has gifted all people to serve in the body of Christ.
Therefore we shall accept the gifts and abilities of all who are called to the various ministries of the church without exception and shall build up and support all whom God brings to The Wyckoff Reformed Church.
